A LONG TRADITION OF SERVING CLIENTS

With relationships that sometimes span multiple decades, Raetz & Hawkins has consistently provided our clients with dependable, high-quality accounting services. We remain committed to our long tradition and legacy of providing personalized and accessible services to meet the needs of each of our clients.

As the oldest accounting firm in the area, we trace our roots back to 1958, when one of our firm’s predecessors, Chuck Harer, established his accounting practice in downtown Lexington. Harer was joined by Lee Goss, and the two practiced under the name of Harer & Goss.

In October 1977, Greg Raetz joined Harer & Goss as a staff accountant. When Lee Goss withdrew from the firm, Greg became a shareholder, and the firm name changed to Harer & Raetz. After Chuck Harer retired in 1984, David Hawkins joined Greg and the firm became Raetz & Hawkins, P.C. Greg and Dave first met in 1975, when they began working as staff accountants at Price Waterhouse in Richmond, Virginia.

Raetz and Hawkins moved to its current downtown Lexington location at 128 South Randolph Street in 1989. The firm has continued to grow, with Bo Haywood becoming a shareholder in 2015 and Lucas Penix becoming a shareholder in 2017.
